Ripped Jeans: Yes or no?

Hello guys, today I have decided to talk to you about one of the most obvious trends of this season as well as the last one: ripped jeans.
I have decided to write this article as yesterday I ran into a 50-years-old woman wearing a jeans sporting a rip on the knee (hand-made by the lady herself). This made me wonder: is it really that important to follow this trend that you would rip the jeans yourself? Furthermore, do you do it to whatever you want?

I’ll start by saying that I’m all for cuts and rips. They’re trendy and they’re able to make a casual look more fun but that doesn’t mean you can always do that. First of all, if you’re over 40 it might not be the best idea. More than that, you definitely should not wear them if you have a public work (I.e. the lady mentioned above).
After all, even if you’re in your 30s, jeans aren’t suited to any occasion.
Dinners, business-meetings and weddings should be left “rip-free”.
One more thing that needs to be pointed out is that handmade rips, especially the bad ones, can be spotted from a distance and from wanting to follow the latest trend you may quickly look plain ridiculous in a short time.
What about you guys? What do you think?
